Download. Remix. Sell your remix: Introducing B2C2C model for digital music.
Rennes, Cannes, 25.01.2008
After having imposed high bitrate DRM-free tracks since its launch in January 2004, indie music store NeoMusicStore is going one step further 3 years later by offering multitrack audio files for a selection of tracks, audio files that customers will be able to freely edit to their own taste or style then sell on NeoMusicStore, affiliate websites, but also on their blog, website or social network such as MySpace or Facebook, thus inventing a B2C2C unlimited lifetime model for digital music.
Starting today, the first remix packages will become exclusively available on DJing.com, world leading electronic music website since 1997, before being added to NeoMusicStore new version by the end of this quarter.
Additional revenues for artists and producers.
Remix packages will be sold between €10 and €40, thus multiplying by 10 to 40 the revenue you can expect from a track. Even if only 5% of customers buy the package, that’s in the short term a 45% to 195% increase to today’s revenues for the same track. If one of more of the remix produced by fans is popular, original artist can expect to sell more original tracks, but also more remix packages… and then can obtain more popular remixes. As an editor can also give rebirth to its back catalogue with this new product, and songs may be edited to contemporary sound, that’s literally a vertuous circle with unlimited lifetime.
No additional work for artist or producers
Artists and producers don’t need to spend more time in studio to create variations of their music. They don’t need to reenter studio to produce new audio content for their back catalogue. They only need to deliver their master multitrack audio files, so they can start right now to sell these remix packages.
No interoperability issues. No learning curve.
NeoMusicStore won’t reproduce the interoperability headache that DRM files provoked during the last years. Some pre-formatted libraries may be available for some remix packages (such as Ableton-Live, Apple Garageband, Pro Tools, etc) but for every single package, a raw WAVE version that you can import in any software you are used to is provided. Respecting the same interoperability engagement, remixes will be sold in MP3 320k format.
No limitation to creativity and imagination.
Remixers are free to add their own sounds, their own touch to the remixes. They are not limited by the original artist choices. A moderation process gives a better exposure to those considered best by both the original artist and customers, but remixers are free to expose their remixes wherever they want as long as they are using NeoMusicStore widgets and store functionalities to distribute and sell it.
